IBSV’s IndieTapes: The Neighbourhood’s Let It Go

Music videos are something of an oddity. It used to be that MTV would be the home to these strange mixtures of sight and sound, but that is no longer the case. Instead the internet is now the home of all things video and this is where the media now belongs, just ask the guy who made GANGNAM STYLE.  That brings us to a very new video from the musical group The Neighbourhood, who have a video that just came out called Let It Go

The band’s style of music is a dark kind of hip hop that is filled with tight hooks that could induce some involuntary humming down the road. The song Let It Go features a very satisfying main background percussion that brings an energetic pace to an otherwise serious song. The video features a possibly bipolar homemaker who seems discontent with her suburban life and views her husband and their friends as materialistic frauds.  Or is it's supposed to be in the style of a Soviet era propaganda film, depicting the capitalist pigs gorging on all of the money they really don’t need. So, that begs the question are the five members of this band COMMIES or just a talented group we will be hearing a lot more of in the future? Most people would go with the latter, but watch the video and decide for yourselves.
